FRANKFORT, N.Y. -- Children attending the New York State Sheriff's Camp will notice a new addition this summer. Northern Lights Marine Systems in Frankfort donated a brand new, $16,000 dock.

The Sheriff's association has about a thousand feet of waterfront on Keuka Lake in Penn Yan and the dock has aged over the years.

On Wednesday, the New York State Sheriff's Institute presented the Northern Lights staff with a plaque to say thank you.

About 900 children from across the state participate in the camp. The institute's executive director says it was important for them to work with a reputable company for the children's safety.

"We can't have cheap attempted effort to do the job to build a dock. We need the real thing, and they have that. It's just a tremendous asset for us. Because again, it also gives us peace of mind. You worry about these kids. You love these kids and you want the best for them," said Sheriff’s Association Institute Executive Director Chris O’Brien.

The dock will be installed in June on Keuka Lake. Twenty children from Herkimer County will attend camp this year.
