BROOME COUNTY, N.Y. -- State Police in Endwell have arrested a man who they say tried to scam homeowners in the area for the past month.

Christopher Bell, 39, faces charges of scheme to defraud after police say he accepted money from people in the Town of Union for services he did not complete.

Police say Bell solicited home repairs and paving jobs to numerous homeowners in the Union area, even advertising with a sign. They say Bell had been collecting down payments, but would not complete the work he had promised.

Bell was arraigned in the Town of Union Court and sent to Broome County Jail without bail.

State Police ask that anyone who has information regarding the case call them at (607) 754-3854.
