Singer Castle highlighted on TNT promos for "The Great Escape"
When it comes to the Thousand Islands and the tourist draw, most people think of Boldt Castle. But with the help of a new reality TV show on TNT, a lesser known castle is ready to shine. Our Brian Dwyer spent the day at Singer Castle on Dark Island where the show, created by some big time names, is giving the castle its spotlight.

ST. LAWRENCE COUNTY, N.Y. -- Contestants all thrown into some scary situations with one objective: Escape.
If you take a look at the promos for TNT's new reality show "The Great Escape," you're sure to see something a bit familiar. One of its episodes centers around Singer Castle on the Thousands Islands.
"People get to come to the castle and say hey, I think I know that part. It's kind of a nice build up in the early promos, even for the other episodes of ‘The Great Escape’ that we're seeing Singer Castle clips," Dark Island Tours President Tom Weldon said.
"I'm not much for being up at 10 o'clock at night, but I will be that night," Larry Foster, owner of Schermerhorn Harbor said.
The show was created by Ron Howard, Brian Grazer and the producers of “The Amazing Race.” At Singer, the contestants have to figure out the hidden passageways and routes to get out of the castle. It's something people hope can promote not only the castle, but the Thousand Islands as a whole.
"You don't just quickly go to Singer Castle," Weldon said. "You've got to spend a little time. You've got to get on a tour boat. You've got to have lunch somewhere before the tour boat goes out. Usually you stay overnight too. Many different businesses are going to benefit."
"I think it should do big things for our area. It should increase the hotel stays and excitement on the river, what we live on," Foster added.
And while “The Great Escape” did shoot its pilot episode here at Singer Castle, it won't be the first episode to air on TNT June 24th. The episode here should air sometime in July.
Other episodes of the show include stops at Alcatraz and the USS Hornet Aircraft Carrier.
