PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. -- State Police in Plattsburgh are investigating a drowning in Lake Champlain. They said Marius D'Eschambeault, 57, of Quebec, drowned near Valcour Island in the town of Peru around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.

According to police, D'Eschambeault did not resurface after checking the anchor of the sailboat he was on. He was transported to a local medical center where he was pronounced dead.
