JEFFERSON COUNTY, N.Y. -- A Sackets Harbor man has been found guilty of trying to kill his wife two years ago. The verdict came down in Jefferson County Court Friday.
Darron Morris shot his wife, Sherry, at their home in Sackets Harbor in 2010. He then threatened police, who were trying to rescue his wife, with a rifle, leading to a five hour standoff. Morris ended up shooting himself in the head.
A jury deliberated for 40 minutes before deciding on the guilty verdict.
Morris could face the maximum of 25 years in prison for attempted murder when he's sentenced in September. There's also a five year maximum for criminal use of a firearm.
