This is that time of year where holiday lights are everywhere and Drive-Thru holiday light shows make great Getaways! Here are a few of my favorites!

• Lights on the Lake in Liverpool, N.Y. celebrates its 23rd year with an enormous two-mile drive-thru light display all along Onondaga Lake. Open every night now through January 6th (Except New year's Eve) from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. $10 per car Monday-Thursday, $15 per car Friday-Sunday. Thruway Exit #38 then a right onto Route 57, go through town and look for the entrance to Onondaga Lake Park on your right side.

• In Albany, head to Washington Park for the 16th annual Capital Holiday Lights in the Park, now through January 4, 2013. Sundays-Thursdays 6 p.m. - 9 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays 6 p.m. - 10 p.m. $15 per car.

• South of Buffalo, head to Hamburg for the Fairgrounds Festival of Lights on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, then December 14-23rd. (See festival calendar) This light show gives you both, a drive-thru AND a walkaround festival area with shops and shows! Santa too! $20 a car load!
