This time of year pumpkins are every where and pumpkin treats are not just for people. Now, you can share the joys of pumpkins with your dog.
Pumpkin is full of Vitamin A. Mix a half cup into dry food for a special treat! Or indulge you dog with one of the following recipes.
Puppy's Favorite Pumpkin/Oat Squares
- 3 cups oats (not instant oatmeal)
- 1 cups whole-wheat flour or white flour will do
- 2 eggs
- 1/4 cup corn or other vegetable oil
- 1 cup rice, cooked
- 1 15-oz can pumpkin
Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl. Pat into a greased pan, frost with peanut butter and bake for approximately one hour. Cut into squares when cool. Make sure to chow down right away or place in the fridge for later.
Puppy Pumpkin Drops
- 1 - 15 oz. can of pure mashed pumpkin (not the spiced pie filling)
- 1 cup flour
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp peanut butter
Mix all ingredients. Drop cookie sized spoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheet and bake at 300 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes until they are golden brown.
Store in the refrigerator in an airtight container. They’re very soft and moist, and spoil easily at room temperature.
