SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Work has already begun on the sand sculpture in the Center of Progress Building.

180 tons of sand will be transformed before the public's eyes during the run of the fair into a beautiful work of art. This year's theme is New York State Athletes and their participation in the Olympics.

YNN will be checking in on the sand sculpture throughout the fair and will update you on its progress.

The butter sculpture also pays tribute to the Olympics, but focuses on the very popular dairy product in New York State, Greek Yogurt. It's called "New York Goes for the Gold with Greek Yogurt"

You can find that sculpture in the Dairy Products Building.
