CENTRAL NEW YORK -- Republican leaders say they cannot decide just who won their party endorsement for State Senate in the 49th District, so they'll leave it up to voters to decide on a candidate.

The committee votes in Onondaga, Cayuga, Madison and Oneida counties had given the edge to East Syracuse mayor Dan Liedka, but backers of Fayetteville pianist Andrew Russo complained about a winner-take-all vote in Madison County that they claim skewed the results.

The primary will be held in September. The winner will go on to face democrat incumbent Dave Valesky in the November general election.
