ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- The driver of the double-decker Megabus that slammed into the low railroad bridge over the Onondaga Lake Parkway has been released from the hospital. The crash killed four people and hurt more than 20 others.
Investigators say despite driving the route from Philadelphia to Syracuse as many as 20 times since July, John Tomaszewski, 59, of New Jersey, says he failed to make a planned turn onto Park Street to get to the regional transportation center. He ended up on the Parkway, but told investigators he never saw close to a dozen signs warning of the low bridge.
The Onondaga County Sheriff says he will confer with the District Attorney's office this week to determine what charges the driver may face.
Two people remain in the hospital.
