BU men end regular season with loss at New Hampshire

DURHAM, N.H. (AP) - Alvin Abreu scored 17 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead New Hampshire over Binghamton 58-49 Sunday.

New Hampshire never trailed and, after opening to a 9-4 lead, broke it open with a 10-2 run over the next 2:51. Brian Benson and Abreu sandwiched the spurt with four points each.

The Wildcats forced 11 of Binghamton's 17 turnovers in the first half, and led 31-19 at intermission.

Brian Benson scored 13 of his 15 points for New Hampshire in the first half.

Abreu was 3 of 4 from long range for the Wildcats (13-15, 7-9 America East Conference), who shot 40 percent from behind the arc (8 of 20).

Binghamton, which was without leading scorer Robert Mansell (14 points per game) due to an injury suffered during Thursday's game against Albany, shot 34 percent from the field (16 of 47). Jimmy Gray led the Bearcats (1-28, 1-15) with 20 points.

The Bearcats will play UMBC in the play-in game of the America East tournament Thursday at Hartford.
