Before the Syracuse University football season kicked off our sports team sat down with Doug Marrone and talked about how far he thought the team had come since he took over last fall. The show aired Thursday, September 3rd. Highlights from the show are available within the links below. The show is also available to CNY and NNY Time Warner Cable subscribers OnDemand, channel 1010.

Paulus prepares to lead Orange

The two biggest pieces of news with the Orange this year are a new coach and a new quarterback. Greg Paulus was a star at Christian Brothers Academy, leading the Brothers to a state football championship in 2004. Since then, he's played for one of the elite college basketball programs in the nation. But with one year of college eligibility remaining, Paulus is back to his gridiron roots and ready to lead the Orange onto the field on Saturday. Our Chris Watson has more.

Marrone set to make head coaching debut

There's a second guy getting ready for his debut on Saturday. Well, sort of. Former Orange lineman Doug Marrone, who's said all the right things since being hired as head coach about nine months ago. He's now ready to give birth to his program. Marrone knows it's time to stop talking the talk and start walking the walk. And time to start trophy hunting. Mark Larson has more.

Jones keeps his promise

Perhaps the biggest bright spot to Syracuse's dismal 2008 season was the play of defensive end Arthur Jones. Jones led the team with 13 tackles for a loss a year ago. And after the performance he had against Notre Dame, many people thought he'd be playing on Sunday's this fall. But instead, he turned down the money so he could keep a promise. Aaron Goldstein has that story.

SU schedule highlighted by eight homes games

Probably the most famous alum to coach at SU is the man who's been in charge of the basketball team for the last three decades. Doug Marrone has a long way to go to match what Jim Boeheim has accomplished. In Boeheim's first year as head coach, he went 26-4. Marrone would need to go 11-1 this year to have a similar winning percentage. Our Anthony Lima talks SU's schedule.
