ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. -- A second person from Oneida County with the H1N1 virus has died. Due to privacy rules, the county could only say the deceased was an adult with an underlying medical condition that contributed to the death.

It's the second death in the county related to H1N1.

In July, an adolescent with an underlying medical condition died.

County health officials say they're also seeing an increase in the number of cases of viral pneumonia, likely resulting from the H1N1 virus.

School based clinics are being planned for later this month, however, officials are encouraging parents to get their child vaccinated as soon as possible.

"What we are saying to parents, especially those that have children with underlying medical conditions, if it's offered at your healthcare provider first, have your child vaccinated as quickly as you can. Don't wait for us to come into the schools, because we don't know when your child will be exposed," said Cathe Bullwinkle, Quality Assurance Coordinator for the Oneida County Health Department.

State health officials say a dozen H1N1-associated deaths were reported in upstate New York between September and October.
