TOMPKINS COUNTY, N.Y. -- A Trumansburg man has been indicted on a second degree murder charge for killing his father.
Matthew Taranto, 28, has been accused of shooting his father, Sal Taranto, to death at his Trumansburg home back in November.
Police say Taranto shot his father in the stomach several times. His attorney says he acted in self-defense after his father came into his bedroom with a loaded gun and threatened to shoot him.
Taranto was indicted Thursday in Tompkins County Court in Ithaca.
