More than 60 of the area's fastest mile runners took to the pavement for the annual Road Runner Mile in Utica. It is the kickoff event for Boilermaker Week next week. Our Beth Jones joined us from the course with more on the race and the upcoming Boilermaker festivities.

UTICA, N.Y. -- With the Boilermaker run a little over a week away, 62 athletes competed in the fourth annual Road Runner Mile to signify the start of the Boilermaker season.

The event took place at the Memorial Parkway with athletes from around the area competing in a mile long race.

This year, records were broken in the college and open women's division, as well as the high school boys division.

Organizers feel the race is a good way to start off Boilermaker week because a mile is a distance that most people can relate to.

The Boilermaker will be Sunday, July 10th. We will have full coverage of the race here on YNN.
