Driver accused in Yates County crash undergoing psychiatric eval
YATES COUNTY, N.Y. -- The man accused of driving drunk and causing Tuesday's crash is now undergoing a psychiatric evaluation.
According to police, Steven Eldridge, 42, of Penn Yan, has been transferred to the Rochester Psychiatric Center for evaluation and treatment.
Eldridge is charged with five counts of criminally negligent homicide, DWI, reckless driving and more. He was being held in the Yates County Jail, but was transferred temporarily for treatment.
The sheriff's office says his case will eventually be heard by a Yates County Grand Jury.
