MIDDLETOWN, N.Y. -- Police have released more details about the man who opened fire in a Middletown courtroom Wednesday morning.
Police say Tim Mulqueen had a history with Middletown Mayor Joe DeStefano. He's the man police say opened fire in the Middletown City Courthouse around 9 a.m. Wednesday.
Police say Mulqueen fired at least one round, possibly two, at court officers in the vestibule of the courthouse. A court officer was grazed by a bullet.
Officers returned fire, hitting Mulqueen, who later died at Orange Regional Medical Center.
Police say they were familiar with Mulqueen. There is no known motive, but police say Mulqueen appeared to have issues with the mayor.
The court officer that was grazed was released from the hospital and is expected to be ok.
