OSWEGO, N.Y. -- Kingsford Park school officials sent out a letter on February 17th informing parents of an "alleged incident of inappropriate sexual contact" between two students.

Oswego police say they opened an investigation immediately, which was just recently concluded, but police said because the student is a minor they will not release further details.

They did say the student in question is nine years old and the case was referred to family court, and the alleged crime, if committed by an adult, would result in charges of Criminal Sex act in the first degree and endangering the welfare of a child.

In the letter sent home from the school Kingsford Park's Principal said that due to federal law regarding the confidentiality of student information they also cannot discuss specifics, but that steps have been taken to ensure student safety in the district.
