ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. -- Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente has announces a brand new nanotech training program for Mohawk Valley teachers.

The SEMI High Tech U Teacher Edition will take its first class of 40 teachers this summer. The two day course is meant to jump start schools into teaching nanotechnology classes as soon as next year.

The courses provide teachers with enhanced skills for teaching science, technology, engineering and math.

Picente hopes starting nanotechnology training with children will lead to an established trade in the area.

"It's really investing in our teachers, in our students. So as we grow and as we expand and as we land a nanotechnology firm, we have the work force of the future already beginning to, the seeds are planted, the work begins," Picente said.

The program has already trained 150 people in other parts of the state.
