ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. -- We are continuing to follow a shooting investigation in the Town of Deerfield that left a man and woman dead.

Troopers were called to a home on Carver Street in Deerfield around 2 pm. Friday. According to investigators, Thomas Anderson, 27, from Utica, shot 23-year-old Kylie Turczyn in her home with a long gun, then shot himself. Anderson died at the scene and Turczyn died at an area hospital.

Two small children were inside the home at the time of the shooting, as well as another woman. They were not injured.

Police believe there was an argument at the time of the incident and are interviewing neighbors to try to find out what led to the violence.

"Certainly we're trying to find out what the incident was, what the domestic might have been over and who the person and those people who might have been involved," said New York State Police Trooper Jack Keller.

Police say they have been called to the home for domestic violence calls in the past.
