SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Some former Central New York students who made it big in the NFL showed current Syracuse students how to have a healthy summer vacation Friday. The players and coaches taught 100 Grant Middle School students how easy it is to stay healthy by exercising for 60 minutes a day and eating nutritious food.

The NFL and the American Dairy Association and Dairy Council organized an in-school nutrition and physical activity program to show the students what activities they can do at home. Participants say it's important for kids to learn how to succeed in school and in life, and they can do that by first being healthy.

"The biggest thing obviously with the Fuel Up to Play 60 is obviously getting kids out of the house nowadays. You know with the obesity problem in America, with kids sitting around playing video games all the time, we want to let them know they get up and do exercise for one hour. That's all they need to do is run around for one hour to help them with the longevity of their life," said Mike Hart, Eastern Michigan University Running Back Coach.

The students all signed a pledge promising they will exercise for one hour a day and eat healthy foods during this summer vacation.
