Woman arrested for animal cruelty
ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. -- An Oneida County woman faces animal cruelty and child endangerment charges.
Police were called to the home of Adicia Dawson on Dewey Avenue in Whitesboro earlier this month to investigate a complaint. They say Dawson was found to have an extremely malnourished German Shepherd, which was taken by animal control officers and is being treated at the New Hartford Animal Hospital.
While there, investigators also say they found the body of a dog in a backyard shed that had been there about three months.
Codes officers condemned Dawson's home, where she lived with two children ages 10 and 14, because of a large amount of garbage and mold inside.
Dawson has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child, failure to provide proper sustenance to animals and improper disposal of a dead animal.
