UTICA, N.Y. -- The 35th annual Boilermaker Weekend is set to begin with an event that's become a favorite with both runners and the community.
Crews were setting up for this year's Boilermaker Expo Thursday. This year's expo is being held at the Jorgensen Athletic and Events Center on the MVCC campus. Organizers decided to move the event after 15 years at the Masonic Care Community due to weather and safety concerns.
Runners will be able to pick up their information packets there, but organizers say the healthy living tips, food, and entertainment that's available also make it popular with the community.
"When you focus on just general, overall health, just giving everybody an opportunity to see different things in the area - there are some vendors that aren't specifically from the area - but, you know, they come back continually to the expo," said Expo Director Chris DelMonte.
The expo runs from noon to 7 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
