NEW YORK -- Consumer confidence is increasing across much of the state. Those are the findings of the latest Siena poll.
The poll found confidence is up for the second quarter in five metropolitan areas. New York City has the highest confidence, followed by Albany. Binghamton and Utica are the most pessimistic.
Confidence is up in all areas surveyed by at least seven percent to as much as 27 percent over the second quarter of 2011.
Analysts say while two-thirds of plans for major consumer purchases dropped, 40 percent are still at of above historical average rates.
