JORDANVILLE, N.Y. -- A Herkimer County man faces charges for allegedly abusing more than a dozen reptiles. Ilion Police arrested Brian Higgins Jr., 24, of Jordanville, after they found 19 reptile containers in his parked car.

Ivestigators said the lizards and snakes had been in the vehicle for more than 26 hours without proper food or water. 13 of the animals have died. Higgins is charged with 13 counts of torturing or injuring animals by failing to provide sustenance.
