STATEWIDE -- One New York lawmaker is pushing for new safety requirements for motorboats after a deadly accident off Long Island. Senator Chuck Schumer wants to display passenger safety limits on all vessels.
This comes after a yacht carrying 27 people capsized in Oyster Bay on the Fourth of July, killing three children. Schumer is urging the Coast Guard to enforce the postings, saying it's an easy way to educate and warn boat owners and passengers about safety.
