SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- It was a fun night at the zoo for families who came out to take part in Penguin Palooza.

The annual event has two main attractions, penguins and ice cream. Several different ice cream vendors were on hand to help people cool off while they watch a penguin feeding and other animal shows.

Zoo officials said it's a unique experience for everyone.

"We just really love having families come out to the zoo after hours which is sort of special. Seeing animals in action at a different time of the day than you normally would. And the animals actually know that there's something different going on as well," said Lorrell Walter, the Director of Public Relations.
