ST. LAWRENCE COUNTY -- A mystery break in a water line in the Village of Star Lake is leaving many with low water pressure, forcing the Town Supervisor to issue a state of emergency and a boil water advisory.
Residents started noticing problems on Saturday and since then, officials in the Town of Fine have been working with Star Lake volunteer firefighters to find the leak. They're working their way around Star Lake, turning off water valves to find the problem area. Firefighters also helped refill the town's water tank. With more water running through the system, they say the leak will be easier to find.
Town Supervisor Mark Hall asks that Star Lake residents boil their water before drinking it and be sure to conserve water.
"We don’t want people washing their cars or watering their lawns or things like that. We need to conserve until we get the system fully pressurized again and the repair made," Hall said.
Town and village officials have been working all weekend to find the problem. Hall doesn't know how long it will take to find the leak.
