MOHAWK VALLEY, N.Y. -- "Pray for rain." That's the message confronting boating lovers in Oneida and Herkimer counties at the Hinckley Reservoir Boat Launch.

Water levels are so low that the New York State Power Authority has closed the launch for the time being.

Officials with the Mohawk Valley Water Authority say water was13-and-a-half feet below the top of the dam as of Tuesday. That is a little below average and agencies are monitoring levels closely.

A sign at the launch says it will reopen if levels rise.
