UNITED STATES -- The New York State Fair has been named one of the five best state fairs in the United States.

Country Living Magazine looked at a range of criteria, including produce, food, educational exhibits, wines and rides.

Fair Director Dan O'Hara says the national recognition proves something that locals have known for more than 165 years now.

Texas, Minnesota, Iowa and Alaska were also in the top five.

Remember, advance sale tickets are on sale. You can get them for $6 instead of paying $10 at the gate.

The fair starts on August 23rd and runs through September 3rd.
