VERONA, N.Y. -- Investigators are looking into what caused a fire in a Verona barn along Route 31 Thursday afternoon.

Fire officials say employees were working inside the cattle barn when they noticed smoke. Hay in an upper part of the barn was on fire. Multiple fire departments were called in to get the flames under control.

Officials say workers were able to get at least 100 cows safely out of that barn.
