Plane crash investigation continues today
HERKIMER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Authorities are back at the scene of Thursday’s plane crash in Herkimer County. The aircraft went down in the Town of Webb.
When military and State Police responded to the scene, the plane was almost totally submerged in 30 feet of water in Gull Lake. The pilot and his passenger were not hurt.
The plane had reportedly departed Vermont earlier in the morning and was 6,500 feet in the air when it suffered an unknown malfunction.
State police, the FAA, and forest rangers are continuing the investigation.
