Opening Day at The Fair has finally arrived
After a full year of planning and preparation, the 166th Great New York State Fair is set to begin. Day One is traditionally marked by Governor's Day, and there's a full lineup of events scheduled throughout the day. Our Brad Vivacqua has more from outside the main gate.

NEW YORK STATE FAIR -- It's the day thousands of people wait for each summer: The New York State Fair is officially underway for another year.
Thursday was Governor's Day and there's a full lineup of events scheduled. Some new features include a Butterfly Garden, the Space Roller ride and a Midway Music Series. The unique food this year is the Big Kahuna donut dog and of course, there's the traditional favorites, like the one dollar baked potato.
If you are coming to the fair, you're encouraged to visit the fair's website for coupons and other specials.
"Keeping it with Governor Cuomo's of making it family friendly and affordable. We've got different specials for the rides. The James E. Strates, you can now purchase online and print out the ticket and then come to their ticket booth, they'll scan it. So there's a lot of different specials," NYS Fair Director Dan O’Hara said.
