Mark David Chapman denied parole again

Mark David Chapman denied parole again
ERIE COUNTY, N.Y. -- The man who admitted to killing John Lennon is denied parole for a seventh time.

Mark David Chapman, 57, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced to 20 years to life in prison in 1981.

The board denied parole, saying when he shot an innocent victim, his actions demonstrated a callous disregard for the sanctity of human life.

The board also said while Chapman has a prison record of good conduct, releasing him at this time would undermine respect for the law and trivialize the tragic loss of life.

Chapman is incarcerated at the Wende Correctional facility in Erie County.
