UTICA, N.Y. -- National Grid and the DEC are close to beginning work on the next phase of cleanup in the Utica Harbor.
The DEC says it's a construction project that will address contamination left by a previous company, Utica Gas and Electric.
Most of the contaminated sediment was removed in 2010. Now, any remaining sediment will be covered with gravel to promote aquatic life and allow for future dredging.
Most of the work should be done by winter.
