ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. -- The man who killed his ex-girlfriend's six-year-old daughter in Oneida County will remain in a psychiatric facility for another year.

Oneida County Assistant District Attorney Dawn Lupi says David Trebilcock recently waived his right to a court hearing to determine whether he is still dangerously mentally ill.

Trebilcock was committed following a trial six months ago for the stabbing death of Lauren Belius in July 2011. A judge ruled that he was not criminally responsible due to mental disease or defect.

At the trial, a psychiatrist testified Trebilcock believed he was a messenger from God and that the girl was the anti-Christ.

Lupi says a judge has signed an order to keep Trebilcock at the Mid-Hudson Forensic Psychiatric Center for up to a year. At that time, he will be re-evaluated and if he shows no improvement, the evaluations will continue every two years.
