UTICA, N.Y. -- Crews fought more than just flames at a Utica house fire. It started around 1 p.m. Tuesday at a house on Riverside Drive.

Smoke and flames were visible when firefighters arrived and they also had to deal with a downed power line in the front yard.

“We had maybe a 40 foot power line down that we had to contend with that could snap in any direction to where we had to maintain a safe distance as far as positioning for firefighters and hose lines on the initial attack,” said Utica Fire Department Deputy Chief Mark Ambrose.

No one was hurt and the cause is still under investigation. The damage was extensive.
