SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- SUNY ESF soccer players are doing all they can to honor a fellow teammate who was diagnosed with leukemia. They hosted a bone marrow drive on the ESF campus in Syracuse Wednesday.

Potential donors were able to get their cheek swabbed and have their name put on the bone marrow registry.

ESF student and soccer player Kevan Busa was diagnosed with leukemia in the spring. Since he was diagnosed, he received a bone marrow transplant and is currently recovering.

Organizers say they hope the drive inspires others to donate.

"I think that they should just think about if it was them that was battling a disease and they needed someone, they would want someone to do it for them. Or someone that they love, whether it's a family member or a really close friend. You want to be able to save their lives. So I think everyone should really be put on the registry," said ESF senior Kelsey Taylor.
