ONONDAGA COUNTY, N.Y. -- The former New Process Gear factory has been sold.
Once a driving force for the Central New York economy, the now vacant plant was bought by ONX1, LLC.
The plant was owned by auto parts maker Magna International. It used to crank out transfer cases for trucks and SUVs. At its height, thousands of people worked at the factory.
New Process Gear was a shell of its former self by the time it shut down production in August.
