FORT DRUM, N.Y. -- Fort Drum's commanding general could soon be leaving for Texas. President Obama has nominated Major General Mark Milley to take over as commanding general at Fort Hood. The nomination would also bring a promotion to Lieutenant General.

Milley was named Commanding General at Fort Drum last November. He also spent five other years on post, including two as commander of the 2nd Brigade.

There is no word yet on who would replace Milley if the nomination is approved.
