SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Syracuse city schools Superintendent Sharon Contreras unveiled her strategic five year plan this past August and now she's rallying agencies across Central New York to help make those changes happen.

Contreras was at the United Way headquarters Monday introducing her plan. It has five goals, aimed at improving graduation rates and teacher performance. But one of the goals is to better communicate will all district stakeholders. That includes organizations like the United Way, which already invests over a million dollars in educational programs within the City of Syracuse.

"There's such a role the agencies can play in helping parents become better advocates for their children and to work more effectively with classroom teachers, who so yearn for parents to become partners with them," Contreras said.
