Oneida city budget includes six percent tax hike
MADISON COUNTY, N.Y. -- Taxes will take a significant hike in the City of Oneida.
Tuesday evening the common council passed its budget unanimously. It includes $16.7 million in spending and a six percent increase in property taxes. That amounts to about $40 for a house assessed at $100,000.
City officials say they had no choice but to exceed the tax cap. At the rate things were going, the fund balance would have run out within a few years.
