NORWAY, N.Y. -- A man was shot during a home invasion in the Town of Norway late Tuesday night.

State Police responded to a home on Ryan Road after gun shots were fired. Authorities say two people entered the home and shot Scott Guyer, 36, in the arm.

Family members of the victim say there were about seven people in the home at the time, including several young children. No one else was injured.

The victim's brother says he believes the attack may have been personal, with the intentions of attacking a different family member.

"I think it was a drug deal gone wrong, to tell you the truth. I think they aimed at the wrong guy. I think they thought he was going to get a rifle, too, so they shot him," said Joshua Guyer, the victim’s brother.

Guyer is currently at Upstate University Hospital. His injuries are non-life threatening.

Police say the two suspects escaped and have not yet been caught.
