CHEMUNG COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Oklahoma man accused of attacking a jogger in Chemung County has been found guilty.

A jury found Tyrel Welch guilty on charges of first degree sexual abuse and second degree strangulation. State Police say he assaulted a 17-year-old girl while she was jogging on North Road in the town of Chemung on June 8th.

Tyrel was extradited from Tulsa, Oklahoma at the end of July after being taken into custody there.

According to investigators, Welch was living in the area and working in the drilling industry at the time of the attack.
