Shoppers enjoying Destiny USA additions
It's been a busy season for Destiny USA. Not just because of the holidays, but just about every week, a new store or restaurant is opening. On Monday, three more businesses opened their doors. Our Cara Thomas was at the grand opening for Gordon Biersch and has some new updates on the mall’s expansion project.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- The restaurant was packed Monday evening at Gordon Biersch. Lots of shoppers were excited to try their new lagers, which they’ve been brewing for the last 30 days in preparation for the night.
TGI Fridays and Opti-golf, an indoor golf simulator, also had their grand openings on Monday. But there’s still a lot more coming and shoppers say they can’t wait to see what opens next.
"They have just about everything here,” Tiffany Baird said. “It's a wonderful mall to shop at. I love it."
Shoppers say they can't get enough of the new expansion at Destiny USA. With more than 50 new stores, restaurants and activities to see and do, one day at the mall just isn't enough.
"I've been coming here every week ever since they opened the new sections of the mall," Kasey Ruthven said.
Destiny USA isn't just a shopping center. Developers say with the amount of attractions they're bringing in, like go karts and Wonderworks, this place is a destination.
"We want it to be a great destination for those who live here in our community like we do, but also attract people from throughout the Northeast," David Aitken said.
So far, about 80 percent of the expansion has been rented. But those spots didn't go to just any stores. Destiny USA team members say they have a very specific focus. They look for uniqueness, bringing stores and attractions you won't find anywhere around Central New York.
Aitken said, "We're very deliberately going after unique uses where we can have great fashion, great entertainment, lots of fun and some great dining as well."
Most of the stores and restaurants in the new expansion have opened, but there are a handful of businesses shoppers are anxiously waiting for.
"I'm excited for the Toby Keith's place. I want to try that. My brother says he's been to one, so he says it’s really good, so I can't wait to try it," Colton Dye said.
And those venues are hustling and bustling to get their operations up and running. P.F Changs will be opening in a week’s time on December 17th. And the Funny Bone Comedy Club is expected to open by late December/early January.
