Man arrested after high speed chase

ONEIDA COUNTY, N.Y. -- A driver was clocked going more than 100 miles per hour during a police chase spanning several towns.

The Oneida County Sheriff's office says they tried to stop a vehicle on Route 12 in the Town of Remsen Wednesday afternoon for a traffic violation. That's when they say the driver, Benjamin Platt, 23, picked up speed, hitting more than 100 miles per hour.

Deputies followed the vehicle through the Town of Steuben, Trenton and several other areas before finally coming to a stop in the Town of Marcy. They say Platt was driving his mother's car with a revoked license and was found to have hypodermic needles and marijuana on him.

Platt faces a list of charges and is being held at the Oneida County Jail on $5,000 bail.
