NEW YORK -- Some of the biggest names in music came together Wednesday for a benefit concert at Madison Square Garden for victims of Hurricane Sandy.

New Jersey native Bruce Springsteen opened the show with the song "Land of Hope and Dreams."

Artists with ties to the area like Bon Jovi, Alicia Keys, and Billy Joel took the stage, along with the Rolling Stones, The Who and Paul McCartney.

The concert was shown on 37 TV stations in the U.S. and more than 200 others worldwide.

More than $30 million was raised just from ticket sales.

Proceeds will be distributed through the Robin Hood Foundation.
