UTICA, N.Y. – There was a ribbon cutting ceremony for the green push at a popular Mohawk Valley brewery Tuesday.
Matt Brewing Company will be using a $5 million biogas to power system. The factory was able to put in place with the help of NYSERDA. It will use wastewater, which will help take some of the load off of Utica's sewer system.
The company will save $350,000 per year with the new equipment, something that could lead to bigger and better things for the plant.
"Our volume has been very good. We've been growing every year and at some point, we're going to run out of capacity. So we will be expanding," said Nick Matt.
Matt Brewing makes the popular Saranac beer brand.
There's $57 million in grant money available through NYSERDA for businesses looking to use biogas technology.
