MOHAWK VALLEY, N.Y. -- The Mohawk Valley was awarded about $59.7 million for 70 different projects they hope to complete next year.

They are one of the only regions whose funding remained nearly identical. They're only slightly down from an award of $60.2 million last year.

The region tried to highlight their breweries and technology work in their proposal by labeling themselves the 'Beer and Chips Region.' Many of the projects they submitted for funding this year follow along the same lines, but they've diversified with 11 more projects.

"They're a very, very diverse mix across all six counties and I think we're excited that now we have $59.7 million in this current competition to advance many of those projects," said MVREDC co-chair Wolf Yeigh.

The Mohawk Valley region also says their award is different, because they do not expect to get as many tax incentives as some other regions.
