SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Syracuse men's basketball team's key to success is defense leading to transition offense, and that formula was in full effect in the Orange's 78-53 win over Rutgers on Wednesday.
Trailing 20-18 with under seven minutes remaining in the first half, SU exploded for a 21-0 run to close the half and extended it to 24-0 early in the second to break the game open. The Orange (13-1) finished with 11 steals and nine blocks, outscoring the Scarlet Knights 20-7 in fast break points and 14-4 off of turnovers.
Syracuse next plays at South Florida this Sunday.
